Kwanchai - Jonathan Mathews Design Group is in the process of designing an exciting new Thai Restaurant in the Belltown neighborhood. Get ready for some Southeast Asian delights alongside a Kwanchai Vodka cocktail menu!

Kwanchai went into shoe business, helping this client design her store and bring her dream to life.

We partnered with the Distillery Lofts to create a new venue in Seattle! Stop by and take a tour.

We are excited that our residential clients asked us to help re-design their current offices in the Sixth & Lenora Building in downtown Seattle. We enlarged the lobby and created a main conference room that would be able to seat 10. These clients wanted sleek finishes, modern furnishings and contemporary artwork. With the new design, lighting was also top of the list, we created an open feel to allow light to go between these two spaces and placed a 12' pendant over the conference table.

We teamed up with The Finerie, one of our long time clients to design an exciting new retial space . This unique mens and womens boutique asked us to help with the opening up of their second location in downtown Seattle, pairing fashion and furnishings. The concept, A collaborative space showcasing both local talent and global designs. CoLAB is a thoughtful curation of Art, Fashion, Furniture, Home Decor, Jewelry, and Fun. They are inspired by good design and seek to facilitate in helping to launch unique, local talent while also offering a balance of established global brands. The Finerie CoLAB carries a variety of playful items for both the home & body. Stop by!

This project inspired by one of Pure Alchemy's stylist, Nona Smith. The Columbia City salon was seeking a fresh and clean look to reflect their organic philosopy to haircare. We updated work stations, retail areas and furnishings, creative seating was on the top of the list. Next was soothing paint colors and directional lighting, We always enjoy creating inspiring work spaces for our clients.

Oh la la! Downtown Kirkland welcomes its very first ultralounge and bistro! Kwanchai was called in early on this project to help sort out initial design related issues. Taking on the roll of project manager and designer, our team worked together to bring the client's vision alive. Starting with a concept and an empty room, Kwanchai worked closely with the owner, contractor and ALL of sub-contractors to coordinate and lead the design process. Step by step we mapped out the shape of the platform booth seating areas as well as the curved onyx bar. Custom table bases were designed to add character and lighting fixtures were specifically selected to accent each individual space. Kwanchai made sure every detail of the space, no matter how big or small, was addressed and then followed through to make sure it was implemented through the construction process. The end result, guests experience the luxury of a truly spectacular ultralounge and VIP experience that will NOT soon be forgotten. Sound View Cafe in Seattle's historic Pike Place Market engaged KWANCHAI to design custom casework and revamp the restrooms. Along with providing plan and elevation drawings, the KWANCHAI team created a 3D model Sound View Cafe, allowing the client to fully visualize the proposed designs prior to execution and installation.

KWANCHAI developed, designed and delivered a comprehensive brand identity and interior design package. Custom logo, exterior signage and menu designs provided cohesive branding while the interiors were developed in tandem to provide a unified idenity for the new restaurant. Efficient space planning, practical layout, durable furnishings and functional lighting highlight the rich palette of colors and textures in the materials and finishes.

Jonathan designed this office building in historic Kirkland. The Market Neighborhood is one of the most historic in the City of Kirkland and has had a significant role in the development of the City starting in the late 1880's. Each architectural piece of the building was designed to celebrate Peter Kirk's historic vision.

El Norte Lounge is now open! Kwanchai created floor plans, elevations and perspective renderings throught the full site selection phase to assess viability and secure city permitting. Once the current location was selected, Kwanchai worked closely with the client to determine exterior facade design, generate interior space planning and create a custom showcase bar. This Latin restaurant and tequila bar brings a modern and sleek presence to the Lake City neighborhood.

This prominent two-story 1908 Historic Landmark building in the heart of Columbia City was ready for a new entry design. We started with researching the history of the building and nieghborhood. One of the distinctive characteristics of Columbia City's early history and development is that business owners generally lived within two or three blocks of their businesses. Example, Theodore Weed who built the Weed Building lived in a modest home just a few blocks away. With our inspiration, we designed a classic traditional wainscoting to frame the entry and staircase leading to the commercial spaces on the second floor. Next on our list was the selection of a grand chandelier, paint and stain finishes. We enjoyed this project in one of our favorite nieghborhoods.

Zeba Spa is beautifully located on Fox Island, WA. with views of Puget Sound. When designing the space, it was important to ensure the richness and elegance carried through to it's serene setting.
